Varicose veins are a medical condition in which the veins become enlarged, dilated, and filled with blood. Varicose veins usually appear swollen and raised, are bluish-purple or red in color, and are often painful.
This condition is very common, especially among women, and about 25 percent of adults suffer from varicose veins in the legs. This condition often appears in the lower legs.
