Vascular laser beam is one of the most effective methods of treating vascular expansion and many types of varicose veins. On the other hand, it is also called vascular laser or vessels laser, which is used to treat many skin cases such as: • Removal of nevus sanguineus • Face roseola • Blood capillaries of face, nose and body. • Body cracks caused by obesity and pregnancy. • Red color scars. • Verrucae In addition to treatment of phlebeurysm and varicose veins (the surface veins on legs) spider veins on the side of the nose, face, or any other area of the body; laser is absorbed by the blood vessels those exist on the skin and this causes their coagulation and disappearance. • Capillary expansions (spider veins) are slightly bluish red in color with a diameter of 0.1- 1 mm. • Retinal capillary expansions have red color with a diameter of more than 2 mm. • Capillaries enlargement with varicose veins have blue colors with a diameter ranging between 1-6 mm. • Varicose veins are greenish blue in color with a diameter ranging from 2 to 8 mm. • Varietal varicose vein is greenish blue in color and their diameter are more than 8 mm. Vascular laser beam is one of the most effective methods of treating vascular expansion and many types of varicose veins. From other hand it is prohibited to use this type of laser treatment in some cases: • It will not be used for people who are taking Roaccutane medicine • Will not be used for pregnant woman. • Will not be used for patients suffering of epilepsy and convulsions. • Will not be used for patients those taking medicines of: anticoagulants, laxatives, and iron, herbal supplements such as ginkgo, ginseng and garlic pills; as these drugs may cause bruising after laser treatment. • Any local use on the skin should be stopped 72 hours before the laser treatment session. • Will not be used in case of oral herpes infection. Side effects: After the session usually, some local skin changes will happen those will decrease after using local cooling within several hours including: redness, mild swelling, small dotting, and feeling stings on the treated area. Unwanted effects: • Itching. • Burns, bubbles, peels and changes in skin color. • Increase or decrease of pigmentation. • Appearance of scars. Treatment sessions: The treatment requires several sessions ranging from (4 to 12 sessions) with a gap of 3-4 weeks between sessions. Follow up sessions could be taken within bigger gap periods to maintain the results. Treatment session: • Local anesthesia could be used in a creamily form before the treatment session. • The skin of treated area should be cleaned properly and any makeup and perfumes effects should be removed. • The skin of treated area should not be cleaned buy using any products containing alcohol or any of its derivatives. • It is preferred to perform a test on a small spot of skin and wait for two weeks to read the result. The session takes around 15-30 minutes at average, and this depends on the area need to be treated. Procedures and care after treatment session: • Cooling the treated area by using cactus gel (Aluvira) • Cleaning the treated area and avoid rubbing. • Avoid sun light and should use protective sun screen (SPF 30) and above.
